street level theology

 I have my muse back

You know after a year and a half, I dont know if there is anyone around to read this that I still know. Funny how things change, including my own street level theology to some degree. I have changed churches, to an even more conservative, reformed Church here in Albuquerque, and some of my views have changed with it. I guess that if we arent growing forward and learning, we are going backwards. I still work at the Rescue Mission in Albuquerque, and still seem to be at constant was with Name it-Claim it/prosperity teaching here, but through a few of the program guys, the ugliness of both Mormonism, which I am something of an expert on, and Scientology, which I am fast studying up on, are starting to rear their ugly heads. This place in some ways is a totally different culture then the so-called "normal" world, but is still very much a micro-cogism of it as well. My ideas on Eschatology have changed somewhat of late (a discussion for another day), but I still think the signs are there. Look up!!

 anti-gay Quacks???

I just saw a headline on Yahoo about anti-gay 'Quacks' appearing in Dallas. These are therapists who consider homosexuality a treatable disease, not a genetic problem, who are going to be attending a convention. there is going to be a protest by opponents to this belief organized. As I have addressed in this blog previously, the gay gene has long been disproven, and is bad science. that doesnt prevent today's left leaning press from portraying it anyway they want to. As i have said before, it isnt genetic except that it is part of the sin nature we all inherited from Adam. While I dont agree with the way some people in the church treat homosexuals (Ive never understood how gay-bashing is loving them into the Kingdom), there is no doubt that it is sin.

 defending your self and property

This is an issue that seems to always be in question. I deal with it from time to time in dealing with the homeless- if attacked, what do you do? simply turn the other cheek, or defend yourself? there are two things that have brought this to mind today. the first was an incident at work last week where one of our security guards tried to break up a fight. He was knocked down and broke his hip. He tried to simply intervene verbally, as he knew both men and had talked to them about the Lord, but it didnt matter. Now he is laid up indefinitely. He is covered by our insurance of course, so that isnt the issue. His heart for the ministry and the homeless is lost for however long it is gone. It seems that the universal thought among my fellow supervisors and security is somewhat defensive- we are sorta of the mindset that we will disable someone else first before we let that happen to us. It is a difficult thing to deal with. the other thing that has me thinking is something that I saw on the local news tonight. A man and his son are in danger of being charged with assault. why? Because they chased down a man they had caught masterbating outside of his daughter's window and beat him up. I wonder if it had been my 5 Yr. old neice, how I would have reacted. I think that the charge of assault would be ludicrous, but as with the other thing, am interested in hearing what others think.

 Im back

Well, I wish I could come up with something spectacular for my first post back in a loooong time, but I cant. I am very blessed at the moment, my job at the Mission is going very well, and I am posting comments on old friend's blogs as I get the chance. What has changed recently? I started seeing a Christian Psychiatrist, among other things. I know this is an oxymoron to some, but she is a blessing to me, and my focus since I got a couple of things under control with medication has been fantastic. And, I can talk about all of the fantastic things that God has done in my life without her trying to lock me up (she thinks that idea is funny as all get out). I am happy to be back and look forward to hearing and talking to everyone again.

 Special sermon

Okay, I usually dont plug my own church, but this is going to be something special. Next Wednesday, 3/21, we are having one of the formost Bible Archeologists, Dr. Stephen Collins, who is also an expert in Apologetics, speak on the trouble which has come out of the new film by James Cameron. Among other things, he has become famous for finding what more and more people believe is Sodom. If you can access Calvary Satellite radio, it will be broadcast at 7PM. If not, you can go to calvaryabq.org 15 minutes before 7PM, and click on the watch now button. You can watch with Broadband, listen with dialup. Dr. Collins is my advisor at the University where I am working on my Masters in theology at, and I will be there that night on the front row. I recommend this chance to hear him to all.
